Networking and Resourcing Your Way to Accessible LibGuides<https://www.orbiscascade.org/about/events/meetings/a11y-speakers/#libguides-a11y> (March 3)
Description: In this webinar Iris Bierlein and Amanda Baker will share the strategies NYU Libraries has used, some more successful than others, in their ongoing efforts to make their LibGuides accessible. They'll cover logistical aspects of achieving accessibility best practices such as documentation, checklists, training materials, and procedural ways to manage the accessibility oversight, and what they're aiming for next.

Objectives for this webinar include:

  * Develop attendees' confidence in doing this ongoing work
  * Provide practical actions and strategies participants can apply, and adjust, to move their own LibGuides accessibility forward
  * Articulate how accessibility best practices can apply to a range of different roles in LibGuides
     * Each role has a part to play, and there are shared and individualized best practices
     * Offer perspectives on working with both content creators and technical teams
  * Share our experience with getting buy-in from our policy makers to support the work and adopt an accessibility-first rather than fix it later approach
  * Start conversations about vendor support and response around accessibility issues

So, You Want to Talk About Accessible Instruction?<https://www.orbiscascade.org/about/events/meetings/a11y-speakers/#instruction-a11y> (March 18)
Description: Wondering how your instruction could be more accessible? This hour-long session will explore the various facets of accessible instruction, including the physical or virtual spaces where we teach, our instructional plans and practices, and the documents and other materials that support our instruction. Join us for a human-centered discussion that acknowledges how improving accessibility is a long, and sometimes challenging journey. We will talk about cultivating an accessible mindset, and explore concrete steps you can implement in your library and your classroom.

Objectives for this webinar include:

  * Identify facets of accessible instruction.
  * Develop a resilient and progress-focused mindset to accessible teaching.
  * Select at least one accessible strategy that is relevant to your library or classroom.

Live webinars will use Zoom's automated captions and transcripts, and recordings will have human-provided and edited captions and transcripts. Presentation slides will use large font size, and there will be limited flashing (no strobing) for slide transitions, animations, and videos. Registration forms include an option to indicate additional accessibility support needs.
