I'm looking for testers to evaluate a draft composite geocode service, and provide feedback to me. This new address locator will replace our existing<http://navigator.state.or.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/Utilities/gc_composite/GeocodeServer>, outdated service. The new service is based on address point data that GEO has gathered from local jurisdictions (thanks to David Mather), compiled into a single master address dataset (thanks Jes Mendez from Employment).
This composite geocode service is currently based on the following individual locators:
Locator
Source Data
Locator Type
Spelling Sensitivity
Min. Candidate Score
Min. Match Score
Address Points
Address Point data for State of Oregon, DAS, 2012 (primarily 2011 data), supplemented by NavTeq data in Lincoln, Douglas, Gilliam, Morrow, and Wallowa counties).
US Address-Single House

OrTrans Street Centerline
OR-Trans, ODOT, 2012
US Address - Dual Ranges

Some new points related to this locator:
* Based on feedback from the user-community, the input fields (Address, City, and Zip) of the new locator match Esri's locator, so bringing this locator into your application only requires changing the URL and not remapping the input fields.
* It supports the single line address input (new to ArcGIS v.10).
* Unlike a lot of composite locators available, this one also includes GNIS data, so it will return coordinates for place names that are entered in the 'Address' field.
To improve this service, I'm asking that GPL members test the geocoder, preferably by running a batch geocoding process (instructions below). Specific things that I'd like to get feedback on are:
1. Do the results returned by the locator meet your needs with regard to the accuracy?
2. Is the response time sufficiently fast?
3. Is it useful to include GNIS (i.e., place name search) in the composite service?
4. Are the Matching Options (e.g., Spelling sensitivity, Minimum Candidate Score, Minimum Match Score)
Thanks in advance for your help!
Erik
Instructions to add the draft address locator in ArcGIS desktop:
1. Click the Tools menu, point to Geocoding, then click Address Locator Manager.
2. Click Add on the Address Locator Manager dialog box.
3. Click the Look in arrow, choose GIS Servers, click Add ArcGIS Server to highlight it, then click Add.
4. In the Add ArcGIS Server wizard, choose Use GIS Services and click Next.
5. Choose Internet and type the following server URL: http://159.121.111.11/ArcGIS/services<http://navigator.state.or.us/ArcGIS/services>. Click Finish.
6. Choose ArcGIS on navigator.state.or.us from the ArcGIS Server list and click Add.
7. Select the Utilities folder and click Add.
8. Select the locator you want to add (in this case, gc_2012_Composite) and click Add.
9. Click Close.
You can test single address geocoding via this web application:
http://159.121.111.11/samples/geocode_sample.html. Clicking on the resulting point will display various attributes, including what locator was used and the percent match.
Here are links to the REST endpoints:
