2.  Environmental Health in the Home - OSU Spring Workshops
 
Oregon Partnership to Improve Environmental Health in the Home (EH at Home) is a new collaborative effort between the OSU Extension Service and the Environmental Health Sciences Center (EHSC) to provide professional development opportunities for individuals in the public and allied health fields. EH at Home focuses on topics related to common environmental health concerns found in residential settings.

Workshop Topics will include:
1) Indoor Air Quality
2) Chemicals in the Diet
3) Pesticides & Alternatives for Pest Control
4) The ABCs of Environmental Health
5) Healthy Kids and Safe Toys

The workshops are free with lunch provided. 
Spring 2010 workshops are being scheduled in Eugene, West Salem, Oregon City, and possibly downtown Portland.

3.  Funding Opportunity: Office on Women's Health Region X: General Women's Health Projects
 
Greetings,
 
Please post and view the attached application for general women's health funding (up to $5,000). Applications are due February 18, 2010. This will be posted shortly on the Women's Health Program website:  http://www.healthoregon.org/wh.

 
Funding is available to support women's health meetings, conferences, trainings, projects, activities, or events. Funded applications will focus on a region or state specific women's health problem, health gap, or on the health or human service needs of a targeted group of women. Special consideration will be given to projects that provide education or training to health professionals on issues related to women's health.
Projects must be completed by July 31, 2010.

3.  Community Health Worker Discussions and Popular Education Overview - available on DVDs
 
The Community Health Worker National Education Collaborative has facilitated a number of Technical Assistance workshops throughout several states. These workshops are great opportunities to learn more about what other states are doing to support community health workers as agents of change and gain an overview of  Population Education - a community focused method of identifying problems/ causes and using their resources to address them.
