       Position Specifications
       Health Education Specialist - Community Education

This is a full time position at our First Hill Campus in Seattle. This
position is eligible for our full suite of employee benefits,
including medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous 401(k) plan,
commuter programs, and continuing education assistance.
       Responsibilities
       Promotes the services provided by Swedish to our patients,
families, and the broad community we serve through health education
outreach, development and implementation of health education programs,
and research, review, and creation of patient health education
materials.  Provides consultation on adult learning and health
education theories to physicians and staff with an emphasis on patient
and family centered care, patient safety and improved patient care
outcomes.  Develops community partnerships to provide health resources
to the community and to raise awareness of Swedish health education
programs.
       Qualifications
       BS or equivalent from college in Health Education or
equivalent.  Master’s level related education preferred.

One year in health education or equivalent.  Experience in planning,
implementing, and evaluating health education programs.  Teaching
experience preferred.  Working knowledge of health education theories
and applying those theories in program development, planning,
implementation, and evaluation.  Good communication skills and ability
to work with staff, physicians, and community partners to achieve the
goal of providing health education to our patients and the community.
Knowledge of marketing programs.  Good organization skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.  Ability to use databases
and to generate reports.
