*About The Wallace Medical Concern (WMC)*

WMC is a nonprofit, volunteer staffed, free health clinic for people
without health insurance and money to pay for care. Through the efforts of
over 300 medical volunteers and the financial support of local individuals,
businesses and foundations The Wallace Medical Concern cares for 4,600
people a year. WMC gets them back to work, school and caring for their
families

The Wallace Medical Concern is engaged in a significant transition intended
to better meet the needs of our community. The most significant facet of
this challenge involves expanding from an Urgent Care model to a more
“upstream” Patient Centered Medical Home. To support this work we are
implementing culturally relevant health promotion and health education
programs. The intern will be based at the Rockwood Building's
administration and clinical offices.

The Rockwood Building, developed by Human Solutions, serves as a catalyst
for revitalizing the Rockwood community. On its upper two floors is
low-income housing, while the first floor houses the following
organizations: The Wallace Medical Concern (administration and clinic),
Loaves and Fishes, Mt. Hood Community College Head Start, Human Solutions,
Lifeworks NW, and Metropolitan Family Services.
