[Iscn-members] Climate Action in Agency Operations - report to Oregon Sustainability Board Dec 20

All,

As many of you know because we have recently been in contact one on one with you, DAS is going to report to the Oregon Sustainability Board at their meeting next Tuesday which agencies have completed operational greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories using our climate action planning tool, and which of those agencies have developed or started developing strategies to reduce GHGs in operations.

Our main focus has been on those agencies in EO 20-04, as those agencies were specifically directed to prioritize GHG reductions in decision making. If we have not heard from you by Tuesday and you are an agency listed in the EO, we will assume the answer to both is no (or not yet).

If you are an agency NOT listed in EO 20-04 but have compiled a GHG inventory and/or looked at GHG reduction strategies for your operations, please let Steve or I know before Tuesday so we can recognize you. As we have stated before, we encourage all agencies - particularly those that own buildings and/or fleet - to use the tool.

All we are asking for now is:


  *   Have you compiled a GHG inventory (YES/NO/in progress)
  *   Have you developed GHG reduction strategies (YES/NO/in progress)

In 2023, we will be compiling actual GHG data from agencies, as well as lists of GHG reduction actions to which agencies have committed for an annual enterprise sustainability report.

If you did not attend trainings on using the climate action planning tool or need help accessing data we have on your building and fleet GHGs, please reach out to us for help.

I have re-attached the letter to agencies from Board Chair SOS Fagan earlier this year on the tool and reporting on agency progress.
