[Iscn-members] Garten Charging for Recycling Pickup

All,

Just a heads up, if you are not already aware, that Garten Services, the Oregon Forward organization that picks up agency recyclables in the Marion County region (and some other locations) is now charging for pickup. This is as of July. This is largely due to the steep decline we've seen in the value of recyclables on the market. Darvin Pierce in DAS Procurement can provide you with more specifics and the price schedule if you'd like.

These situations can be fluid, so we will see what happens in the recycling market in the future.

All the more reason to REDUCE waste in the first place. Use less paper. Ask vendors to minimize packaging. Encourage staff coming to the office to use reusable cups and containers.

DAS will soon be sending out a 2022 updated Recycling Guide for what can be recycled, and where.
