State Agency Sustainability Coordinators and Facility Managers:
Attached is the preliminary 2025 schedule for the Interagency Sustainability Coordinators Network (ISCN). Jeni Hall will soon be sending out calendar invitations for the year. Meetings will be every first Wednesday of the month from 1:30-3pm. We are going to try a hybrid in person/remote approach to allow for more face time in person.
As a reminder, the ISCN was created by Executive Order to, "exchange ideas and practices and to develop new approaches to sustainability among state agencies." As such, we highly encourage agencies to 1) ensure you have a dedicated person who can consistently attend these meetings (only 6 in total for the year); and who 2) has the capacity and skills to actively participate in discussions. We want and need to hear from you about what's working well, where we can improve as an enterprise and how we can support you.
As you will see on the proposed schedule, we will be tackling several topics in 2025, and we will be inviting participation from the Governor's Oregon Sustainability Board, as well as subject matter experts from our own agencies and others outside the enterprise. We are also carving out time to hear from you through specific agency presentations and roundtables.
I would like to request that by the end of next week (January 17), you:
1. Share this with your team internally and, if you have not already done so, designate your agency "sustainability coordinator" who will represent you at these meetings.
2. Share any updates on this with us - we currently have a listserv for agency sustainability coordinators, and if we need to add or remove someone, please let us know.
3. Let us know if you have any specific questions or needs you want addressed through this network - the agenda is still draft and can be changed so we can meet your needs.
As a reminder, DAS and ODOE will also be continuing to convene the "ODIEM" group, which is specific to energy management. The ISCN group deliberately does not include energy, which is in itself a very large topic worthy of its own group, particularly considering HB 3409 and associated rules. Our DAS Sustainable Procurement Program<https://www.oregon.gov/das/Procurement/Pages/spp.aspx> will also be conducting outreach and engaging with procurement staff in the agencies in 2025.
As always, we are here to support you, so pick up the phone and call, or email with questions and ideas. We will continue to send periodic newsletters, tips and resources through the listserv group in 2025, and to post ISCN updates to our web site.
Happy Ney Year,
Dave
