Location:  Beaverton City Library, 12375 SW 5th, Beaverton, OR 97005
Description:  Join Beaverton City Library for a busy spring!  The Youth Services Spring intern will be a general assistant to the Youth Services Librarians working on various projects, including: Preparing for busy Summer Reading Program (training volunteers; generating book lists; creating displays, publications, and flyers; assisting with skits at local schools; and promoting interest in the program at local schools); helping to weed a portion of the collection under guidelines of a librarian; supporting Youth Services programming; providing assistance to help us get ready to open a new branch library; organizing materials to introduce more book club kits; and other tasks to help promote and implement Youth Services.  In addition, the intern will receive training and gain experience with purchasing materials, Storytimes and Reference Desk services.
Qualifications: Self-motivated and able to work independently; Responsible and dependable; Organizational and time management skills; Willing to learn new skills and teach others; Able to complete tasks in a timely manner; Willing to complete tasks as assigned; Good people skills; computer proficient; advanced clerical skills; Previous work or volunteer experience is helpful.  Experience working with teenagers a plus.
