2012 Collaborative Summer Library Program


 


Call for Ideas by December 1, 2010


 

Here are our working chapter titles with program ideas that have been
suggested for the 2012 Dream Big-READ!  manual. "Night" is the broad
concept.  If you have other ideas, I'd love to hear about them.  

 

I am especially interested in your ideas for:

*	School visits and other ways of promoting the program in your
community-a skit or puppet show is always welcome!
*	Setting the Scene: library decorations, bulletin boards, props,
etc.
*	Family literacy programs
*	Original puppet plays esp. for one or two puppeteers
*	Outreach Ideas for underserved groups
*	Bilingual storytime

Chapter 2 Promotion


Chapter 3 Dreams and Wishes- 

o   Wishing customs, folktales about wishes, dreams as in hopes and
aspirations for oneself or others, imagination

Chapter 4 Night Night

o   Bedtime, lullabies, bedtime rituals, bedtime buddies, can't get to
sleep, relaxation (Yoga for kids)

Chapter 5 Night Owls

o   Nocturnal animals--owls, moths, fireflies, etc., night workers, the
city or country at night, personal safety at night (for Int), jazz
music/Harlem Renaissance

Chapter 6 Night Adventures

o   Stargazing, space exploration, stories and legends about the sun,
moon stars, night adventures from history-Kate Shelley, Underground
railroad, Paul Revere, etc., treasure hunt at night

Chapter 7 Night Shivers

o   Ghosts, monsters, scary stories, around the campfire, fear of the
dark, sleepovers
