Hello!  I just received the following email regarding Stevens Puppets first West Coast tour.  I spoke with Dan Stevens on the phone too.  He already has booked a lot of performances in Washington for next summer and is planning on contacting California libraries too so if you are interested I suggest you act quickly.  I have not seen any of his performances, thus you will need to check reviews and recommendations to help determine whether or not Stevens Puppets is a good fit for your library and community.

 Information about Stevens Puppets for Oregon Youth Librarians.

Stevens Puppets are planning a West Coast tour of the libraries in the summer of 2012.  This is the first time in our 78 year history these beautiful marionettes have been offered to libraries on the West Coast.

            Imagine...taking your favorite fairy tale and having the pages of the story come to life in front of your very eyes. The Stevens Puppets (a standard in American marionettes) has been producing colorful and exciting marionette productions of the best-loved fairy tales and children's stories since 1933.

            Being the oldest and most watched puppet company in North America,  Stevens Puppets boasts such unforgettable marionette stories as "Beauty and the Beast", "Rumplestiltskin", "The Wizard of Oz", "Pinocchio", "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", "The Sleeping Beauty", "Cinderella" and "Aladdin".  All of the original marionettes have been hand-carved of wood.  All the shows have also been hand costumed, hand painted scenery, hand-made props all to enhance these wonderful puppets. Our marionettes have been touring for decades to libraries and schools and are regarded by many as some of the very best marionettes in the world!

            Each story is 45 minutes in length, making it perfect for children of any age, even 1 and 2 year olds through teenagers.  Yes, you read it correctly; I said 1 and 2 year olds through teenagers.  Our stories are so captivating that no matter the age of the child, they will sit spellbound watching these "little people" enact a play in front of their eyes, and never lose focus of the marionettes. Each story has a moral or life skill woven cleverly and discretely throughout the story.  Every performance triumphantly ends with a demonstration of the marionettes by the puppeteer.  We also guarantee every performance.  If  you are not 100% satisfied, we do not expect payment.
            Stevens Puppets' performances come complete with a sound system, lights, stage, scenery, puppets and everything necessary for our performance.  We do request an electrical outlet.

            Our fee schedule is very simple.  One performance of Stevens Puppets is $295.00.  We don't charge for mileage.  We will request a hotel accommodation in addition as we are travelling through.  If a library requests more than 1 performance in the same location on the same day, every performance after the first shall be $150.00 each.  If a library system books several branches, there will be a discount on each as well.
