[kids-lib] Opportunity: Help select children's & YA books for the White House's Open Ebooks initiative

Are you frustrated when a potentially great literacy program selects crappy books? Do you wonder... "Why didn't they ask librarians to help select these books?"

Now is your opportunity to help!

Apply to the Ebook Collection Curation Corps
As part of the White House's Open Ebooks initiative, DPLA is calling on librarians and other information professionals to volunteer to help coordinate books for inclusion in the program to help connect children with ebooks.

They are seeking motivated, engaged community members who have experience with building and organizing children and young adult book collections, who have time to spend building out the first two collections.

Open eBooks will contain hundreds of public domain titles that are free for all kids. What makes Open eBooks different is that it will also contain thousands of popular and award-winning titles that will be free for unlimited usage by low-income students. These ebooks can be read in an unlimited fashion, without checkouts or holds.
