There’s still time to apply for the 2017 Innovations in Reading Prize<http://nationalbook.us9.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=8120eb79bde996c5a76e8f595&id=3ced692807&e=769c72a09a>, an annual honor awarded to an individual or organization that works to enrich communities around the world through reading and literature. The National Book Foundation recognizes five outstanding organizations or individuals each year, with one winner receiving a $10,000 prize. Since the inception of the award in 2009, honorees have distributed over 1 million books to underserved countries and awarded over $1 million to various education and literacy projects. Last year's honorees include:

  *   The Harry Potter Alliance<http://nationalbook.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8120eb79bde996c5a76e8f595&id=6accf194ce&e=769c72a09a>, which uses inspiration from stories such as Harry Potter and The Hunger Games to promote activism and community engagement
  *   LGBT Books to Prisoners<http://nationalbook.us9.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=8120eb79bde996c5a76e8f595&id=65563777c8&e=769c72a09a>, which distributes books and educational materials to LGBTQ+ individuals within the prison system
  *   Limitless Libraries<http://nationalbook.us9.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=8120eb79bde996c5a76e8f595&id=feeaef49e0&e=769c72a09a>, which works to improve the public and school libraries of Nashville, TN
  *   Traveling Stories<http://nationalbook.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8120eb79bde996c5a76e8f595&id=3570240194&e=769c72a09a>, which sets up StoryTents in low-income neighborhoods and offers free reading support to elementary school children
