Hello Oregon librarians,
I am emailing to ask for your assistance in a project to map the current state of movement-based programming in public libraries. Based in part on the results of a survey distributed earlier this year, I have compiled a list of 571 public library systems in North America that offer movement-based programs on an ongoing, recurring basis.
I am asking you to take a look at the results for Oregon, and to please send additions and retractions:
http://www.letsmovelibraries.org/map/Oregon/
Particularly lacking in this directory are annual or seasonal programs – programs offered less frequently than once a month – as well as “library of things” initiatives that encourage movement and physical activity (e.g. checking out state park passes, bicycles, nature kits, etc.).
To incentivize participation in this initiative, individuals who submit additions or retractions to this directory during the months of June or July 2017 will be entered into a drawing for one of five $50 Amazon gift cards.
Please share this message with others who may be interested in this project.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to your feedback.
The Let’s Move in Libraries<http://letsmovelibraries.org/> project is focused on understanding how public libraries create opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities to move and be active.
