[kids-lib] OASL Conference: Makerspaces, Book Talks, Great Sessions, & Great Authors, inc. Vera Brosgol

The Oregon Association of School Libraries (OASL) hosts an annual fall conference. This year's event will be at Jesuit High School in Portland on October 13th and 14th.

Friday morning is dedicated to makerspaces, Friday afternoon is all about book talks, Saturday offers lots of great sessions to choose from, and the featured authors are Jason Reynolds, Vera Brosgol, Fonda Lee, and Cathy Camper. If you can’t make it to the conference, but you want to see Jason Reynolds speak, you can get tickets for that.

Registration is open, and the early bird discount goes through this Friday, September 8th.

HomePlate is Washington County's only non-profit provider of drop-in centers and street outreach for young people experiencing homelessness.

There are several options you might consider bringing to the conference for donations:

     *   High protein wrapped snacks such as granola bars, bags of nuts, and individually-wrapped beef or turkey jerky
     *   Beanie hats in a variety of colors.
     *   Gift cards to Fred Meyer, Target, Dollar Tree, Subway, Starbucks, and Kohl's in $5-10 denominations to be given to youth.
