Announcement of Grant Opportunity: 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)



The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) is pleased to announce the 2018 21st Century Community Learning Center Request for Applications. The application, which includes guidelines and a list of required supporting materials, is available on the 21st CCLC website<http://www.oregon.gov/ode/schools-and-districts/grants/ESEA/21stCCLC/Pages/Grants-Guidance.aspx>.  Please submit applications to Ann Kaltenbach<mailto:ann.kaltenbach at state.or.us> via email by 5 PM, Friday, May 4, 2018.



Purpose of Funding

The purpose of the 21st Century Community Learning Center program is to provide before and after school, weekend, and/or summer school academic enrichment opportunities for students attending high priority and low-income schools to help them meet local and state academic standards in subjects such as reading, mathematics, and science. 21st CCLC programs may also provide activities for youth development, service learning, nutrition and health education, drug and violence prevention, counseling programs, art, music, physical fitness and wellness programs, technology education programs, cultural programs, financial literacy programs and other ties to an in-demand industry sector or occupation to enhance the program's academic components.  21st CCLC programs also include a family literacy and engagement component.



Eligible Applicants

The 21st CCLC program is authorized under Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015. Grants are awarded through a competitive process to Local Education Agencies (LEAs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Faith-Based Organizations, and other private or public entities, or a consortium of these entities to provide comprehensive community learning center services.
