Slight addition: We're going to try to compile these responses to save them for posterity, not just for use in the letter to legislators, so I'd love to hear from you even if multiple libraries have already responded.

Cheers!

Subject: A request from the OLA Legislative Committee

Hi folks,

I have a request on behalf of the Oregon Library Association Legislative Committee. We are working on a letter to send out to legislators detailing all of the cool things all types of libraries are doing to serve their communities during the pandemic. We have the generalities - beefing up digital offerings, mail order books, virtual reference, online storytimes, sharing community resources, etc.

However, if your library is doing something you think is particularly special, or is really tailored to your community's COVID-response, can you please send what you're doing my way? It will help us draft a letter with lots of specifics. I'd really like to hear from as many of you as are willing to respond! As always, when working with the Legislature, it helps to have responses from libraries big & small, of all types, from across the state.

I sent this message earlier to the public library directors list and got a lot of great responses. I'd still love to hear what public libraries are doing. However, it would be really helpful right now to hear from academic, K-12 school, and law libraries as well, to give legislators a full sense for the breadth and creativity of libraries in Oregon.

Thank you for all that you're doing. These terrible circumstances have nonetheless demonstrated the creativity, passion, and empathy with which you all serve your local communities.

Cheers!
