LIOLA Update

The goals of LIOLA are to:


   -

   Promote networking and professional engagement between colleagues
   throughout the state of Oregon
   -

   Offer opportunities for dialogue and discussion on topics that are
   relevant in both the field of librarianship, and to each participants’ more
   individualized,  library-focused work
   -

   Provide comprehensive learning opportunities designed to support leaders
   in developing both their personal and professional leadership styles
   -

   Introduce an equity-centered leadership approach that demonstrates the
   benefits of identifying and eliminating service-based barriers to
   under-served or marginalized communities.



Who should apply?

LIOLA welcomes individuals at all levels of library work to apply.  We
support leaders through a process that encourages participants to build
skills in the present that will have lasting future impact.

Applicant Requirements


The Leadership Institute of the Oregon Library Association (LIOLA)
<https://ola.memberclicks.net/liola-2021> is happening this year - in
person at Silver Falls Conference Center  July 23-25th with 3 synchronous
online follow up sessions. In response to feedback from  former
participants and OLA’s needs, this year's Institute will focus on
Leadership through an EDI lens.

We are thrilled to have Christina Fuller-Gregory (she/her/hers) a
librarian, and experienced Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice
practitioner as the facilitator. She was named one of 2021 Library
Journal’s Movers and Shakers

In order to apply and be accepted into LIOLA applicants must:

   -

   Be a current member of OLA
   -

   Be currently employment in a library


   -

   Have been employed in a library setting for at least three years
   -

   Include one (1) professional letter of reference


   -

   Attend and participate fully in both in-person and virtual learning
   experiences (including any pre or post session engagement)

Application & Deadlines

The application will open on Apri l17 and close May 23rd.

Participants will be informed about acceptance in early June with the first
in-person session to be held in .


About the Facilitator

Christina Fuller-Gregory (she/her/hers) is a librarian and experienced
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice practitioner.  She is the
principal consultant at Fuller Potential Consulting.

An active member of the American Library Association (ALA) and of the
Public Library Association (PLA), her library advocacy includes serving as
the program facilitator for the Emerging Leaders program, a leadership
development program for early career library librarians.  She is also a
member of both the ALA Equity, Diversity ,and Inclusion Assembly, and the
ALA Committee on Diversity. Most recently, she worked with a joint task
force of ALA organizations to develop the Cultural Proficiencies for Racial
Equity framework, a framework that will serve as a foundational resource to
help libraries build inclusive cultures, within libraries and their broader
communities. In recognition of her advocacy work in the areas of equity,
diversity, inclusion, and social justice, Christina was named as a 2021
Library Journal Mover and Shaker.
