[kids-lib] Kentucky summer reading pen pal program needs recipients

Hi folks, I know many of you have summer already planned to a T but if you've got some flexibility I've got an opportunity to share! A Kentucky library is running a pen pal program this summer focusing on grades 1-6. The library is a branch of a larger county system, they serve about 10,000 people at their branch location, with approx. 65,000 in the county, and they're limiting the registration to 30 kids. They had a library lined up that dropped out - see more below.

Hi friends -

One of my counties had a pen pal program lined up with an out of state library and that other library bailed on her at the almost-last-minute.  Would you send this out and see if you have an interested library?

Pen Pals
Bring the summer adventure to your mailbox!
For elementary aged children, grades 1-6.
Registration cap: 30 kids.
We'll use a google form to collect patron interests and pair matches.
Patrons commit to writing 3 letters to their pen pal. To encourage children to write, we'll run three in person programs, June 7, June 28, and July 19. We'll learn about friendly letter writing, practice calligraphy, and write our letters together. Letters will be mailed together in one package to the partnering library to eliminate lost letters and shipping costs.

At the end of the three-letter commitment, with parental permission, we can connect the patrons and share emails/contact information.
