Does your library collection include decodable books? We’re looking for
photos to include in our presentation (see below) demonstrating the many
wonderful ways libraries are increasing the findability of these books for
very new readers. It could be a display, a bin, a catalog enhancement, etc.
Send us your photos, along with your library’s name, and we’ll include as
many as possible in our presentation slides.

Interested in learning more about decodable books? We invite you to join us
at the OLA Conference.

Deciphering Decodable Books

Thursday, April 24th at 10:15am

Presenters: Amy Clark, Amy Seto Forrester, Jackie Partch

Join us as we identify the elements of decodable books and show how they
support new readers. Decodable books present phonics concepts in sequence
to help build skills and confidence. Readers learn to sound out words using
reading strategies not guessing from pictures. Decodable books are an
increasingly popular request in school and public libraries. Selection tips
and suggestions, along with ideas for collection integration will be shared
in this hands-on, interactive session.

Hope to see you there,

Amy, Amy, and Jackie
