Hi,

Check out the Gale support site for Oregon. It has been updated and now has a broader purpose.

            http://galesupport.com/oregon

If you have a Gale tech support question, please submit it through the support site. If you do not get help within a reasonable amount of time, let me know. Reasonable will vary, but feel free to contact me after a week.

The following are some of the things you can do on the site.

MARC Records
To download MARC records for the 25 titles available to everyone through the Gale Virtual Reference Library, start typing your library or system's name in the top text box. Then click in the MARC records box highlighted at the top of the new page and complete the steps that follow.

Database URLs
If you still need to make the Gale databases available to your patrons via your library website, type your library's name in the top text box of the support site. You will be directed to a page specific to your library, and it includes your database URLs. (Plinkit users: Darci Hanning updated your sites several months ago.) Notice that the page also has database images that you can post anywhere on your library site. Want patrons to be able to search nearly all of the databases at one time? Then add the PowerSearch widget, found at the top right of the library-specific page. If you need help with any of this, fill out the form on the Need Additional Info page. Your request will be routed to someone on the consortium team who knows about the Oregon contract.

Statistics
If you are interested, you can start receiving Gale usage statistics for your library. To set up that function, choose Statistics from the pull-down menu, and fill out the form at the bottom of the page. (I will work with Gale to improve the instructions in this section.)

General Requests
Have a Gale tech support question that doesn't fall into one of the categories in the pull-down menu? No problem. Fill out the form at the bottom of the Miscellaneous or Need Additional Info pages.

Gale Database Posters and Bookmarks
Click on Market Gale, the box in the top right corner, to get to Gale's Power to the User page. Then click on Market Your Gale Products in the left column to order posters, bookmarks, and tent cards for use in promoting the databases. Recently a librarian told me that she put posters in the Chamber of Commerce and a few other similar places in her town. Great idea!

Recorded Webinar (intro to Oregon statewide database package)
If you could not attend any of the on-site or online trainings, you can view an archived version of the 1-hour webinar designed to introduce you to the databases available in our statewide package. Click on either Training Opportunities link found towards the top of the page, and click on Recorded Webinar under the Self Study bullet. During the 45 second audio introduction, you will see a black screen.

Database-Specific Webinars
Every month, Gale offers a variety of 1-hour webinars designed to teach you how to use specific databases. These are free but require registration. Click on Training Opportunities and then on Complete Webinar Schedule. To register, click on any calendar entry that interests you, and then click on Register Online Now.

Thanks,
Jen
