JOB INTRODUCTION
Clackamas County Library Network is seeking a Technical Services Librarian
to catalog a high volume of audio-visual materials; participate in
maintaining the library software; maintain the library website; lead the
work of other staff; and other duties as assigned.

Competitive candidates will have:
- The ability to quickly and accurately catalog a high volume of difficult
print and non-print materials
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in cataloging
- Experience with SirsiDynix Unicorn and/or Symphony software
- Experience with configuring automated library software
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with 11 member
libraries, explain consistency in cataloging and acquisitions workflow.
- Ability to learn to new software
- Ability to lead the work of staff including providing coaching, training,
feedback, and support

PAY INFORMATION
Technical Services Librarian
$3668 - $4636 Monthly
Employees' Association Grade 20, Job Code 257
40 hour week; 5 day work week; no evenings or weekends; some flexibility in
daily work schedule
Work Location: Library Network Office, 16239 SE McLoughlin Blvd. Suite 208,
Oak Grove, Oregon
Excellent Benefits include 3.6 weeks vacation, 10 holidays, and 6%

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Library Information Network is a division of the County's Department of
Business and Community Services. The Library Information Network of
Clackamas County provides programs and services to 11 independent public
libraries. Services include OCLC cataloging, an Interlibrary Loan Program,
computer system/WAN administration, and inter-library courier delivery
services.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
1. Classifies and catalogs the more difficult print and non-print materials
using various reference sources, assigning subject headings, and determining
the most accurate cross references and descriptive notes; makes changes or
additions to existing classification scheme.
2. Leads the work for a specific functional area overseeing the work of and
providing assistance to subordinate staff; responsible for training,
assigning and scheduling work of assigned staff.
3. Participates in the maintenance of the library software which is used for
cataloging, acquisitions, and serials; supports and trains staff in the use
of the software; documents training materials; maintains the web presence
for the organization.
4. Participates and serves on various committees; attends professional
conferences and meetings; maintains statistical and other records; prepares
monthly, annual or special reports as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or any satisfactory
combination of experience and training that demonstrates the required
knowledge and skills

Thorough knowledge of: Principles and practices of librarianship including
cataloging; library facilities and services; library programs and their
relationship to community needs.

Working knowledge of: Principles of library organization and administration;
standard books, periodicals, reference, bibliographic works and their
general contents; concepts and techniques for prioritizing and organizing
work; principles and techniques of supervision and training; library
automation computer systems, library website design and maintenance, and
software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and specialized
library databases such as OCLC or licensed electronic resources; library
automation trends and technologies.
