Registration for the 2009 OLA Conference ends March 26, 2009

Reservations can be made at the Phoenix Grand Hotel by calling 
1-877-540-7800.  Rates are $109 for a room with a king size bed or $119 
for a room with two queen size beds (plus 10% tax and fees) and are 
subject to room availability.  Be sure to supply the attendee code of 
OLA2009.  The hotel is likely to fill up, so make your reservation soon.

Listening: Are MP3 Players So Yesterday? Put Yourself Out There:

information, followed by a presentation from nationally known narrator,

The morning portion of the pre-conference will focus on issues related 
to acquisitions (where to buy the games and find reviews), creating a 
collection development policy(what games and consoles to collect and 
reasons why you should have a video game collection) and cataloging 
video games (how-to with hands on experiences). The afternoon portion 
will focus on public services (creating a circulation policy), 
publicity/marketing (how to run a game night, publicize your 
collection), set-up(how to set up the consoles) and staff training(basic 
knowledge for staff that may not be familiar with video games).

classification. The format includes overviews, opportunities to ask 
questions, and time to practice the day's new knowledge on examples.

This session will cover the selection of books for in-house mending, an 
introduction to book structure and archival repair materials, and 
hands-on instruction of several basic book repair procedures. Attendees 
will receive handouts with illustrated instructions for the repairs, as 
well as materials and contacts lists and a bibliography with further 
information. The hands-on workshop will include mending loose and torn 
hinges, tipping in pages, and recasing text blocks. Spine and endsheet 
repairs will be demonstrated. There will also be discussion on 
collection maintenance and how to prevent human and environmental damage 
to books.
