Greetings everyone,
My apologies to those who may have seen this already but this is a very timely and valuable offer from EBSCO that deserves to distributed as widely as possible:
EBSCO has decided to offer Career Library to any interested U.S. public library - at no cost for the rest of 2009. As of 2010, any U.S. public library can renew at 50% of the normal annual subscription price.
Please read below for complete details and contact information at ebscohost.com to sign up or if you have any questions -- it's my understanding that this is being made available to Public Libraries that are current customers of EBSCO (which you are if you participate in the statewide database licensing program).
Cheers,
Darci

Subject: Free Access for U.S. Public Libraries to Careers Database
Dear U.S. Public Librarian,
Whether an individual is looking to change careers at an advanced age, concerned about an unstable current job situation, or just out of school and trying to find a place to start - libraries play a valuable role in helping people find employment.
After discussions with a number of our customers, we have learned that public libraries are receiving more requests than ever for career information. This is not surprising given the current economy.
In light of this, EBSCO has decided to offer Career Library to any interested U.S. public library - at no cost for the rest of 2009. As of 2010, any U.S. public library can renew at 50% of the normal annual subscription price.
This offer is not available to schools, but we are allowing existing public library customers to take advantage. That means that any existing U.S. public library customer of Career Library will receive a credit that can be used toward the purchase of previously unavailable products, and upon renewal, their price for Career Library will be cut in half.
Career Library contains detailed information on more than 2,500 occupations, including interest and skills assessments, connecting results to the appropriate career cluster and/or occupation list. The surveys and assessments are based on the 16 federal career clusters (in English and Spanish). The system also includes state-specific resources, a resumé builder, and an Occupation Video Library (in English and Spanish).
If you'd like Career Library to be available in your library, please send us an email at: information at ebscohost.com, and we'll move quickly to set up this free access.
Regards,
