School librarian to testify before the Senate in ESEA reauthorization

Jamie Greene, a school librarian at Hugh Cole Elementary School in Warren,
RI, and president of the Rhode Island School Library Association, will
testify before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and
Pensions (HELP) tomorrow in a hearing titled, “ESEA Reauthorization: Meeting
the Needs of the Whole

Greene, who was invited to testify at the hearing by Sen. Jack Reed (RI-D),
will highlight the critical role of school libraries in our nation’s
educational system and the need for Congress to include them in the
reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).  The
hearing will begin at 10 a.m. EST.
According to the Senate HELP Committee, CSPAN will provide a live online
video stream of the hearing; however, C-SPAN has yet to place the hearing on
its calendar. Those interested in viewing the hearing should continue to
check the schedule on the C-SPAN Video
