 Many believe that with the progression of caller identification on most
phone lines, whether they are cellular or land, the days of prank calls were
numbered. Wrong!

There are websites that allow a person to enter a phone number to show up as
the originating number when they place a call, thus allowing prank calls to
be made.

This has been brought to the attention of public districts as a few have
already been the target or alleged 'originator' of such calls. A park and
recreation district in central Oregon had their phone number 'used' to make
bomb threats to local businesses. Another public official had his personal
phone number used to make death threats against himself. Should something of
this nature occur with your district, it is important for everyone involved
to cooperate with law enforcement.
