Hello all,

Now that summer is mere weeks away (you can tell by the pollen count if not the weather) and you've been getting lots of delightful email from your Collaborative Summer Library Project representatives, here's a few more things you need to know:

You may have heard that there is now a snazzy new early literacy section of the summer reading manual. You can find it online here: http://cslpreads.org/early-literacy-manual.html, but first, you must register for free at http://cslpreads.org/. The early literacy manual includes a wealth of information on how to structure your early literacy programming for this year's summer reading theme (One World, Many Stories), including tons of ideas for programs, storytime songs and rhymes and lists of great books to share with the little ones and families at your libraries. The early literacy manual is new this year, and it will continue to be part of the Collaborative Summer Library Program. Starting next year, there will be art created specifically to appeal to the early literacy set, including posters to promote your summer storytimes and other programs.

Access to the early literacy manual is just one of many benefits of registering at http://cslpreads.org/. However, you don't need to register to view the national winners of the You Are Here Teen Video Challenge and embed or link to the videos on your blogs, Facebook pages and library websites. These teen-created PSA's are a great way to promote summer reading: http://cslpreads.org/winners.html. Register on the website to download the PSAs<http://cslpreads.org/psas.html> created by CSLP, and other resources like these fabulous videos<http://cslpreads.org/signing-videos.html> featuring folks sharing various songs and rhymes in sign language. Don't forget to check out the amazing collection of resources TeachingBooks.net have assembled just for this year's summer reading program: http://www.teachingbooks.net/quicksearch.cgi?id=1399.

That's all for now. Don't hesitate to contact one of your CSLP reps if you have any questions. And remember, you are welcome to join one of the CSLP committees and help create future years of summer reading programs.

Best,
Lisa

All Oregon public, volunteer, and tribal libraries are members of the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP). To get the most out of your membership, create an account on the CSLP website (www.cslpreads.org<http://www.cslpreads.org/>) and you will be able to access additional summer reading resources. CSLP membership dues and manual fees are paid for by the State Library with LSTA funds. Summer reading manuals are distributed by OLA's Children's Services Division, and both CSD and OYAN members represent you on CSLP committees and at the CSLP annual meeting. Your ideas and feedback are invaluable to your representatives. Please don't hesitate to share!
