The successful candidate will possess crackerjack customer service skills, an unparalleled ability to create innovative programs for children ages birth to twelve, a strong interest in outreach services and community partnerships, top-notch communication skills and super-duper technology skills. A keen sense of humor wouldn't hurt. Responsibilities of the position include providing incredible reference and readers advisory service to the public at the Children's Division information desk, creating, presenting and evaluating fantastic programs for children birth through twelve and the grown-ups who care for and work with them, providing patient and well-organized technology training for division staff, selecting a variety materials for the collection using the library's collection development policy, creating eye-catching flyers and publications for the division, and many other unbelievably exciting duties as assigned. Starting Salary: $22.70/hour with advancement to $28.98/hour.

Program Specialist for Older Adults

Performs professional duties in the library with an emphasis on serving mid-life and older adults. This position will work closely with the Juanita Pohl Center and other local agencies that serve adults age 50+ to provide programs, activities, events and services to expand opportunities for learning, service and civic engagement. The Natural Resources project seeks to 1) tap older adults as a community resource; 2) create opportunities for intergenerational learning; 3) direct services to midlife and older adults; and 4) evaluate services and make recommendations to improve library services for the targeted population. This position is funded wholly by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oregon State Library. This position will end on or before June 30, 2013

Youth Services Librarian at Johnson County Library

The award winning Johnson County Library is a mid-sized suburban library system on the Kansas side of the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area and currently has an opening for a Youth Services Librarian, with emphasis on early literacy. This librarian will work closely with the Early Childhood Literacy Coordinator to plan, implement, evaluate and oversee aspects of the early literacy program at Johnson County Library. This librarian will manage the branch youth services department including program planning, budgeting, outreach, maintaining the collection and the early literacy space. trains and acts as a mentor to new youth services staff. Plans, prepares and performs programs targeted to young children. Assists with maintenance and promotion of the branch youth collections through displays and the de-selection of materials. Acts as part of the branch management team and handles difficult patron interactions in the absence of a manager and as the occasional staff person in charge, explaining policies and procedures as necessary. Provides leadership to youth services staff as well as to other staff regarding early literacy. Serves on and takes a leadership role in system-wide youth committees.

The Washington County Law Library, located in Hillsboro, Oregon, is seeking a part-time (25 hours/week) Law Library Assistant. Under the supervision of the county's Law Librarian, the Law Library Assistant will have administrative support and financial record keeping duties, document digitization tasks, and provide circulation and basic library reference assistance to library patrons. Successful candidates will possess a combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be at least one year of experience in administrative support work and training in the operation of basic office equipment. Preference will be for applicants with at least one year of previous library experience. Pay range is $17.68 - $21.49 hourly.
