[Libs-Or] MLIS Student Internship Opportunity

The UO Portland Library & Learning Commons seeks an MLIS student with experience and an interest in user needs assessment, for a paid internship in Summer 2013 quarter.

The intern will conduct user interviews with members of the UO's Turnbull Center (School of Journalism and Communication) in Portland.  Interviews will focus on users’ information needs and behaviors, with the goal of improving the library’s outreach and service to the students, faculty, and staff in this school.

The intern will gain experience with designing and conducting user needs interviews, compiling results, identifying themes, and proposing solutions and strategies to address user needs.  The intern will be directly supervised by the Head of the Library and Learning Commons and the Access Services and Outreach Librarian.

This project is estimated to require approximately 40 hours of work in total, over several weeks.  The rate of pay is $10/hr.
