Hello,

Here are 4 things you need to know about getting active in the Oregon
Library Association.

1 - Need inspiration to get active?
OLA leaders have recorded testimonial videos that will provide you
with all the inspiration you need. Check out the short trailer at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9ImSLWf6tc and all the videos at
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxi7mWLzPQIzw1-tU2YtbYQ/videos

2 - It's easy to get active in OLA.
At the OLA Annual Conference, a panel of OLA leaders will share with
you exactly how easy it is and the benefits of involvement. Hear all
about it at "The Inside Out Organization: OLA" (Thursday, April 17,
4:00pm-5:30pm)

3 - Want ads
We've got some volunteer positions that need be filled listed at
http://www.olaweb.org/seeking-volunteers. Or just contact the Chair of
the OLA unit that interests you. That Chair will be grateful for your
help and will find a role for you. Contact info for each group is at
http://www.olaweb.org/ola-units. Like I said in #2, it's easy!

4 - Learn from my mistake.
I had an interest in getting involved with OLA for years before I
actually did so. One of the things that kept me from participating is
that I felt unsure of how to make a contribution and how to take that
first step.

I'm so glad that I did take that step. I found out how rewarding the
experience can be. And what warm, kind, colleagues are available to
support me.

Don't make the same mistake that I did and dawdle about when you could
be having the time of your life.

And once you take the step to get involved you'll be surprised and
amazed by what happens next. You'll meet friendly, kindhearted,
supportive colleagues. You'll build new skills. You'll feel the
gratification that comes with making a contribution. You'll have fun.
You won't look back. You'll wonder, "why did I wait so long?"

Oh, and there's a 5th thing you should know. As crazy amazing awesome
as OLA is already, it will be more so once you get involved.
