Fall 2014 Open Classes Course List Includes 60+ Graduate-Level Courses for
Information Professionals


One of the newest continuing education and professional development
opportunities offered at the San Jose State University School of Library and
Information Science <http://slisweb.sjsu.edu/>  is the fully online i.School
Open Classes program <http://slisweb.sjsu.edu/programs/ischool-open-classes>
. If you are looking for a graduate-level course without formally enrolling
in a degree program, you’ll want to check out the Open Classes fall 2014

Courses offered during the fall 2014 session
14-course-list>  cover diverse topics, including web usability,
instructional design, metadata, electronic records, grant writing, big data
analytics and management, crisis informatics, mobile devices, cataloging,
marketing information services, and information governance. In addition, you
can take Spanish and Chinese language and culture courses designed
specifically for information professionals.  

Choose courses in any of the following areas:

*	Information Assurance, Big Data, Informatics, and Information
*	Leadership and Management
*	Managing, Preserving, and Curating Digital Assets, Records, and
Other Cultural Heritage Artifacts

*	Courses Covering Specific Library Environments
*	Research and Program Evaluation
*	Language and Culture for Information Professionals

Open Classes courses are electives offered in the school’s Master of Library
and Information Science (MLIS)
s>  program, which is fully accredited by the American Library Association,
and Master of Archives and Records Administration (MARA)
-mara>  program. All courses in the i.School Open Classes program are
delivered exclusively online.


You can begin signing up for Open Classes courses on Monday, June 23.

on space availability, so earlier sign up is recommended. Fall session
courses run from August 25 through December 18, 2014.
