The sun peaking out between rain showers reminds us that spring is on the
way, so it must be time to start thinking about *Choose Privacy Week*,
celebrated annually the first week of May. This is an opportunity for
libraries to provide displays and programming to inform our library
communities about privacy issues. Every week seems to bring a new
revelation about privacy violations by government or corporations, so this
is a great time to highlight this topic.
The American Library Association sells promotional
materials<http://www.alastore.ala.org/SearchResult.aspx?KeyWords=cpw>in
support of Choose Library Week, and provides resources and information
on the Choose Privacy Week web site. <http://chooseprivacyweek.org/>
Has your library celebrated Choose Privacy Week in the past? Do you have
ideas for displays or programming that you can share with other Oregon
libraries? The OLA Intellectual Freedom Committee would like to hear about
your experiences. Please contact Intellectual Freedom Committee co-chair
Garnetta Wilker (gkwilker2 at gmail.com) or me if you have ideas to share.
Thank you,
Roberta Richards
