Need Content for Social Media Postings? Check out the Gale/Cengage Learning Blog!

[GCBlog]Keeping your Library's Facebook or Twitter feeds fresh with current content can be a challenge. Need some inspiration? The Gale/Cengage Learning Blog<http://blog.gale.com/> highlights current topics of interest to a wide variety of audiences. Postings are divided into streams by topics of interest to academic<http://blog.gale.com/academic/>, school<http://blog.gale.com/schools/>, and public<http://blog.gale.com/public/> libraries. There is also a stream for product updates<http://blog.gale.com/updates/>. Recent content includes a story about using Gale/Cengage Learning content in social media marketing at the Chandler (Az.) Public Library<http://blog.gale.com/posting-more-than-books-on-social-media/>, suggested resources for National Hispanic Heritage Month<http://blog.gale.com/the-unexpected-roots-of-national-hispanic-heritage-month-part-one/>, and background reading suggestions for understanding the recent independence vote in Scotland<http://blog.gale.com/in-other-news-scotland/>. A recent product update also introduces a new feature for highlights and notes<http://blog.gale.com/highlights-and-notes/> in many of the Gale/Cengage Learning database platforms. Use the blog to set up a social media channel with the platform<http://blog.gale.com/?post_type=ch_staff&p=46> that works best for you.

Some of the resources highlighted in the blog are not available in Oregon's Statewide Database Licensing Program contract, but don't let that keep you from exploring this rich source of ideas for your next Facebook post! State Library Looking for Suggestions for Nomination to the LSTA Advisory Council

The Oregon State Library is looking for new members for the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Advisory Council. We'd really appreciate hearing about any people you would like to suggest for one of the vacancies. Please suggest possible people by November 15th. Out of all the suggestions made, two people will be nominated for each vacancy. New Council members will be elected by the Oregon State Library Board of Trustees at their December 5th meeting. We are looking for suggestions to fill one public, one library user, and one school libraries representative. We are also looking for someone who can represent underserved or underrepresented populations in libraries. The State Library tries to have a good geographic representation of Oregon in the Council, which may influence who is nominated. Use our survey<https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q6LS2F3> to make suggestions. Please suggest one person per each survey response. You may suggest more than one person by doing multiple surveys.
