State Library Specialist I (Circulation Technician)

This position is located in the Talking Book and Braille Library (Talking Books) division. An estimated 60,000 Oregonians have limited vision or other disabilities which prevent them from being able to use conventional books or other printed materials. Talking Books serves as a public library by providing a wide variety of reading materials in recorded or Braille formats. Duties & Responsibilities: The State Library Specialist (SLS1) Circulation Technician is a member of the Circulation Workgroup within Talking Books that works under the guidance of the Circulation Workgroup Coordinator. This position shares its core job duties with the other State Library Specialist Circulation Technician position in a production driven environment to meet daily performance standards. The purpose of this position is to carry out the shared duties of handling, sorting, maintaining and performing quality control of digital and cassette audio books. Over 1,400 books are processed per day to blind and print-disabled Oregonians.

The Library Director is a management level position under the administrative direction of the Washoe County Library Board of Trustees. The Library System has 130 employees and a FY 2015-16 general-fund budget of approximately $8.2 million. A Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university is required. The chosen candidate must have five or more years of full-time professional library experience as a Director or Assistant Director of a large metropolitan or regional library system.
