Greetings all,

The Oregon Digital Newspaper Program (ODNP), based at the University of
Oregon Libraries, just released several lesson plans geared toward grades 4
and 6-8 for using digitized historic newspapers in the classroom to meet
Oregon common core standards for ELA and Social Sciences. The plans can be
adapted to any grade level. The lesson plans and additional resources are
accessible through our blog¹s K-12 resources page:
http://odnp.uoregon.edu/k-12-resources/.

le/

The ODNP has been digitizing historic Oregon newspapers since 2009, making
them keyword searchable and freely available to the public online at
http://oregonnews.uoregon.edu <http://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/> . We have
digitized over 700,000 pages so far, all of which are excellent primary
source materials that can be used to bolster almost any K-12 lesson, perfect
for meeting common core standards in the classroom.

Please share this great news with other interested parties, and feel free to
contact me with any questions, etc.

Many thanks!
Sheila
