This is a 32 hours per week position and includes day, evening, and weekend hours. Primary duties include developing, implementing, and presenting library programs for children, teens, and families. Other duties include working at the circulation desk, shelving, providing reader's advisory and reference assistance, and computer instruction. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop and present a pre-school age story time program. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to alphabetize and understand the Dewey Classification system. Previous experience working with children in libraries or equivalent highly desired. Computer skills and experience are required. Physical requirements include the ability to bend and to lift weights of up to 40 pounds. Successful candidate must pass background check. This includes, but is not limited to, managing the day-to-day operation and future planning for the statewide interlibrary loan system, training libraries on the use of that system, and coordinating resource sharing contracts used by WYLD consortia libraries to facilitate interlibrary loan and the purchasing of library materials. This position supervises three staff members and oversees the processing and maintenance of the State Library's collections.
