Just wanted to alert you to 2 free webinars this week from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Pacific Northwest Region (NN/LM PNR).
This first one will be of interest to school librarians but even public librarians who are working with homeschoolers but anyone from your communities including teachers and the general public may attend. No registration required. Both webinars will also be recorded for later viewing.

Our monthly webinar, PNR Rendezvous, guest speaker will be Andrew Plumer, Outreach Librarian for the National Library of Medicine (NLM). His presentation, NLM's K-12 Resources: Supporting the Teacher, Engaging the Student, will be Wednesday August 17 from 1:00 - 2:00pm Pacific Time. Connect using this link https://webmeeting.nih.gov/rendezvous, audio is through the phone.

The National Library offers a wide selection of resources to assist the educator and engage the students. Web portals designed with educator input focusing on such topics as environmental health, chemical and toxicological hazards in the community and genetics. The National Library of Medicine offers other databases that can be used as adjuncts to existing classroom lessons. It isn't all just web portals and databases, the NLM has created a series of animations dealing with environmental health issues and games covering multiple issues including chemistry, biology and environmental health.

Have you considered creating programs or services regarding health in your communities? Come listen to PNR partners to learn about funding from NN/LM PNR that can be used to promote health in your communities.
PNR Partners is a webinar to feature the work of members who have received funding from the PNR. Each presenter has an opportunity to speak about the great work they have done.
Thursday August 18 from 1:00 - 2:00pm Pacific Time. Connect using this link https://webmeeting.nih.gov/pnrpartners/, audio is through the phone.

Our next session features members from Montana. Melanie Swenson, Director of Health Information Technology at Kalispell Regional Health Care, will present how through the use of laptops, iPads and training they were able to improve access to the Kalispell Regional Hospital's patient portal and patient education resources. Laurel Egan, Director of St.James Healthcare library, and colleagues will speak about their collaboration with community organizations to promote resources and increase awareness of children's mental health resources in Butte, Montana.
