Portland State's 49-acre downtown campus is located in the heart of one of
America's most vibrant centers of culture, business and technology.
Portland State is the largest public university in Oregon and is one of the
100 largest public universities in the nation, enrolling more than 28,000
students. The University Library welcomes more than 1 million visitors each
year and provides essential resources to students, faculty, staff, and the
general public. The Library is an active and influential member of the
Orbis Cascade Alliance, a consortium of 37 academic libraries in Oregon,
Washington, and Idaho.



The Interim Outreach Librarian supports the communication of Library news,
collections, databases, services, and events; promotes library collections,
services and programs through print and electronic communications;
collaborates with librarians and campus partners to develop, deliver, and
integrate library marketing and communications through a variety of media;
assists in the creation and maintenance of instructional materials; and
participates in a dynamic instructional program, including classroom and
online instruction. Portland State University non-tenure track faculty
members contribute to faculty governance activities within the Library and
the University and engage in research activities and professional service,
as assigned. This full-time, temporary (September 2016 through June 2017)
non-tenure track faculty position reports to the Dean.



Duties include:

   - Working with the Dean, the Head of Special Collections, and others
   throughout the Library, gather information on new and improved library
   services, projects, databases, new resources, events, exhibits, workshops,
   and staff, and disseminate through appropriate channels to the Library and
   University communities, including donors and potential donors.
   - Prepare announcements and contribute content to the Library website.
   - Coordinate content communicated through the Library’s social media
   accounts (Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc.).
   - Oversee and contribute to the creation of Library brochures,
   newsletters, and publications, both in print and digital formats. Oversee
   and contribute to the creation of videos, photos, and other items needed by
   the Library for communications, outreach, and marketing. Identify and
   develop the broad messages and themes to use in marketing to various
   constituencies of the library.
   - Develop physical and online learning objects and research guides.
   - Assist in the creation and maintenance of general instruction
   resources such as tutorials, videos, LibGuides, and Guides on the Side.
   - Participate in the Library’s information literacy and general
   instruction program, both face-to-face and online. Collaborate with
   teaching faculty to develop discipline and/or course-appropriate
   instruction. Share in the development and delivery of course related
   instruction in the general education program, as assigned.

The annual salary rate for this position starts at $4264/month with an
excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a
generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for
employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
