Please join us next Friday, March 17 at 10:00am -11:30am PT for Getting Back to Normal: A Virtual Tabletop Exercise in Disaster Preparation.

On March 17 at 10:00am -11:30am PT, the NN/LM PNR will host a virtual tabletop exercise that will feature a scenario based on a major disaster. The disaster will impact the entire Northwest, disrupting the normal state of being in your community. Which disaster will strike? Attend the virtual tabletop exercise to find out!

Is your library prepared?

Are the people who work in your library prepared?

Will your library take a role in helping your community/institution return to normal?

Will you take a role?

The webinar will be facilitated by Dan Wilson, Coordinator, NN/LM Disaster Ready Initiative. Dan, who is also the Associate Director for Collections & Library Services, has been helping libraries prepare for disasters since 2007. He combines his hands-on experience with the knowledge he has gained working with librarians and emergency planners across the nation.

Learning Objectives:

  * Determine your current preparedness level.
  * Awareness of value of emergency planners.
  *   Value of risk assessment.
  * Analysis of operational impacts from an interruption or disruption.
  * Ways to protect the safety of your employees and patrons.
  * How to build a culture of preparedness in the workplace and at home.

Two helpful checklists will help you prepare for this event: Disaster Readiness Checklist<https://nnlm.gov/sites/default/files/atoms/files/disaster_readiness_checklist.docx> & Partnership Opportunities Checklist<https://nnlm.gov/sites/default/files/atoms/files/partnership_opportunities_checklist.docx>

The PNR looks forward to helping you get prepared.

To help mitigate the impact of disasters on communities, the National Library of Medicine through the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) has committed resources to help all libraries maintain their core information resources and services following disaster to support the health and general well-being of their communities.
