Lee Lancaster* (1905-1989) challenged the boundaries of higher education
for women, leaving a lasting impact on Virginia Tech and the surrounding
community of Blacksburg, VA.  She was one of the first five women admitted
as full-time students to Virginia Tech, then known as the Virginia
Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI), in
