IMLS budget mark up by the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee is happening
in early June and the staff is working on it now



Washington state librarians have heard that they intend to use the
President’s request….which would mean an overall LSTA cut of $515,000…….for
FY2017.



The following Senators are on the subcommittee which will write this bill.
Could those chapters from their states encourage your colleagues to call
them, explain why the President’s request cuts funding to libraries
(although IMLS amount is level-funded, our money going to museums &
research office), how this cut will negatively impact your state services,
and why they should not cut library funding.  Since the IMLS total remains
the same, maybe some Senators don’t know that libraries are being cut.
