FY17 Federal Library Funding Faces First Key Hurdle
Critical early decisions about federal library funding for FY 2017 are
about to be made by Members of a key Senate Subcommittee that will
determine whether vital state programs made possible by the Library
Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and Innovative Approaches to Literacy
(IAL) can be maintained next year. You're a constituent of at least one
Senator on that key Subcommittee, which will be meeting to vote on LSTA and
IAL support potentially in a matter of a very few legislative days! Now's
the time to tell your Senator's office that we need "level funding" for
LSTA and IAL in FY2017, notwithstanding the President's proposal to cut
LSTA grants to states by almost $1 million.
