[Libs-Or] No-Cost Financial Literacy Training in Eugene, Dec. 7

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is presenting a free day-long workshop for Oregon library staff wanting to improve their support and programming around financial literacy topics in their libraries. Topics covered will include pro bono financial planning, consumer credit, college and student loan financial planning, retirement planning, and fraud prevention. Come to learn about the services available to Oregonians and make contacts to help with developing library activities and programs.

Library staff are also invited to attend a second meeting December 8th  (same location):  CFPB Financial Exchange (FinEx)<http://www.consumerfinance.gov/adult-financial-education/> for financial education practitioners of Oregon. At this meeting,  two topics will be addressed in depth:  challenges reaching rural communities and communities in economic transition, and families and money.  These meeting will provide an opportunity to share challenges and best practices locally, get a better understanding of the work financial educators are doing in local communities, and to make contacts for library activities around financial planning.
