Dear Colleagues,

I want to share an upcoming opportunity at Portland Art Museum that my be
particularly interesting to Art and Instruction Librarians, as well as
other educators.

*Introduction to Visual Thinking Strategies*
*Tuesday, August 8, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. | Kim Aziz, MEd *

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is a student-centered, research-based
curriculum that uses art to foster students’ capacities to observe, think,
listen, and communicate.

An effective tool for educators interested in fostering a learning
environment based on constructivist and student-centered principles, VTS
provides a method to facilitate discussions that support the development of
communication, social, and critical thinking skills. This introductory
workshop will expose educators to authentic listening & facilitated models
of teaching, including lecture, discussion, reflection and small/large
group presentation.
