Here are two enlightening articles about personal librarian programs in
Oregon. The first one describes an effort at Reed College to connect
first-year students to their own assigned librarian, to help their academic
career get off to a solid start. The author, Erin Conor, is the Performing
Arts Librarian at Reed College. Doesn't that sound like fun? :)

Matthew Stefanik follows with an article about Multnomah County Library’s
new and interactive readers’ advisory service called "My Librarian."
Curious patrons select from a menu of 17 librarians based on a shared
passion for books, movies, or just intrigue, and receive personalized book
