Oregon Tech seeks applicants for the position of University Librarian. This
is a 12-month, full-time position located at the main campus in Klamath
Falls, Oregon. The University Librarian is the chief administrator of the
libraries including the libraries at the Klamath falls campus, the
Portland-Metro campus, and the Shaw Historical Library. Oregon Tech offers

development. The University Librarian will report to the Provost and Vice
President of Academic Affairs and provide dynamic and engaged leadership by
working closely with the faculty, staff, students, and other key internal
and external stakeholders. The University Librarian is expected to elevate
the level of excellence of Oregon Tech’s renowned high quality, hands-on,
and profession-oriented education nurturing our students to be career-ready
professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The University Librarian provides strategic leadership for the libraries
in collaboration with other academic units and consortial partners in
support of the mission of the University. The University Librarian is
responsible for decision and policy making, and overall management of and
strategic planning for libraries; communicating and advocating for
consortial implementation of library systems, technology, and libraries
facilities; working collaboratively to provide information and
communication technologies; initiating and expanding collaboration and
partnerships with external stakeholders; coordinating evaluation and
improvement of library facilities and spaces utilization; lead budget
development and management for libraries initiating and leading grant
development, fundraising, and external funding opportunities; and
overseeing planning and implementation of library services for all
campuses, locations, and online learning. The University Librarian develops
and maintains positive relationships and active partnerships with students,
faculty, staff, the community, and library consortia.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Required:*
· ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree
· Ten (10) or more years of professional experience in increasingly
responsible positions in academic libraries, including administrative
responsibilities
· Demonstrated success in leadership
· Proven fiscal management experience for materials and personnel
budgets
· Effective communication, negotiation, and consensus-building
skills
· A strong commitment to the educational role of the library
· A clear understanding of both information technology and
information literacy and their changing roles in higher education
· Experience in strategic planning
*Preferred:*
· PhD or second Master’s degree
· Experience with university and library assessment
· Successful grant writing and fund raising
LIBRARY:
The Oregon Tech Libraries are composed of two physical branches, one in
Klamath Falls and one in Wilsonville, along with a robust online presence.
The Klamath Falls Library is located in the Learning Resources Center (LRC)
on the Oregon Tech campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In addition to the
library's main collections, located on the first floor of the LRC, the
administrative offices and group-study rooms are located on the second
floor. The Portland-Metro Campus Library is located on the 4th floor of
the Wilsonville campus building overlooking the Coffee Lake Wetlands.
With a budget of over 1.4 million, the Oregon Tech Libraries provide
students, faculty, and staff access to individualized research assistance,
dynamic classroom instruction, and a variety of program-specific print and
electronic resources. As a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, the
Libraries ensure university access to millions of additional research
materials. The Oregon Tech Libraries are also responsible for supporting
physical and digital special collections including the Shaw Historical
Library, the University Archives, the GeoHeat Collection, and the Crater
Lake and Klamath Waters Collections.
The Oregon Tech Libraries faculty and staff are active campus participants,
collaborating closely with university administration and faculty to support
university initiatives. Faculty and staff are also active participants in
the Orbis Cascade Alliance, a nonprofit consortium of 39 colleges and
universities in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho which uses a structure of
teams and working groups consisting of member library staffs to achieve its

The Office of the Provost supports the faculty and curriculum of Oregon
Tech by providing leadership to all of the university's campuses and
academic programs, fostering excellence in teaching, research and service
