Dear Oregon library community,

Measures that Matter (MtM) is an initiative launched in early 2017 through a cooperative agreement between the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA) to address short- and long-term challenges to public library data collection and use. The State Library of Oregon is a member of COSLA and has been following the initiative, which continues to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders from within the public library field and outside of it. Major points of discussion are the need for public library data collection tools to support library operations, programs, resources and services and the need for data to demonstrate the value of public libraries in the United States.
Next week there is an opportunity for you to participate in the discussion. As follow up to work conducted in 2017, and to help propel the work forward, the Measures that Matter project team recently released a draft Action Plan. The document is available at http://measuresthatmatter.net/draft-action-plan-for-public-comment/. Two webinars are being offered during which members of the MtM Working Group will present the Action Plan in brief and engage with webinar participants around their feedback on it. Dates and times are: Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 4:00 pm ET and Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm ET. The content of the two sessions will be the same.
We invite you to join the webinars, learn about Measures that Matter, and contribute to the conversation. Register at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MtMPublicComment.
Readers of the Action Plan draft also have the option of submitting comments through the online feedback form available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MtMAPJan18.
