The United States Agricultural Information Network, USAIN, 2018 Biennial Conference in Pullman, WA, is open for registration! This is the first time the USAIN Conference has ever been in the PNW, on the west coast, AND and so close to all of us who live on the edge! The conference is schedule May 14 - 16, 2018.

Please check out our libguide at http://libguides.libraries.wsu.edu/usain2018 We have rates for USAIN and non-USAIN members, as well as students, and one-day only attendees.
And with all the $$ you'll be saving on travel you could afford a hotel room to yourself for a few nights. ;)

We have a great conference lined up and we're posting new information to the libguide each day. Of particular note is the AWIC Pre-Conference at only $50!
Alternative Literature Searching
Join Kristina Adams from The Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC) on Sunday, May 13, 2018.
The regulations of the AWA require that investigators provide Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUCs) with documentation demonstrating that alternatives to procedures that may cause more than momentary pain or distress to the animals have been considered and that activities do not unnecessarily duplicate previous experiments. A thorough literature search regarding alternatives meets this Federal mandate. An alternative is any procedure that results in the reduction in the numbers of animals used, refinement of techniques, or replacement of animals.
The objectives of the workshop are to provide:

  *   An overview of the AWA and its information requirements;
  *   A review of the alternatives concept;
  * Instruction on the use of existing information databases/networks; and
  *   On-line database searching experience.
This workshop is targeted for principal investigators, members of IACUCs, information providers, administrators of animal use programs, and veterinarians
