Blockchain technology is a hot topic, and researchers are exploring its full
impact within the community and around the globe. Join the San Jose State
University School of Information for its free web conference on blockchain
technology's potential for libraries. Registration is free!

 

Event: Blockchain Applied: Impact on the Information Profession

Keynote speaker Jason Griffey, an award-winning technology expert, will get
the conversation started with an explanation of blockchain. A panel will
further the discussion by taking a closer look at standards for library
blockchain, legal concerns, security in libraries, and how to use
blockchains to authenticate and preserve public discourse.

 

Concurrent sessions will cover applying blockchain technology to the
information disciplines, such as healthcare, records management, and
librarianship. Specific applications like using blockchain to extend
community-based library collections and establish provenance and
authenticity in the visual arts will also be discussed. 

 

The final 30 minutes will help attendees pull it all together and envision
the growing possibilities of blockchain technology applications and the
impact on the information profession. Pros and concerns of blockchain
technology will be addressed, with the keynote panel providing final food
