Tech-Talk: WINDOWS - Choose Your Auto Start-Up Apps
Advanced

[start working]

Every morning when I boot up my computer I go through a series of clicks to open a handful of programs and website pages that I use throughout the day.

It would be a great time-saver to be able to have certain programs open when I boot up my computer – automatically. That way I could jump quickly into the day's tasks!

You can do this too. Programs you use regularly would be open and ready right away. For example:

· Firefox or Chrome would be open with key web pages ready to view.
· Outlook could be launched and ready for viewing email.
· QuickBooks would be open to get bookkeeping done first thing every morning.

You can choose whatever apps you want open when you boot up your computer.

Set up a Program to Run Upon Windows Startup

WINDOWS 10: Set up apps/programs to automatically run at startup

· Go to the Start button, and select Settings (the tool icon).
· Click on Apps and then go to Startup in the left navigation. (NOTE: If you don't see the Startup option in Settings, right-click the Start button, then choose Task Manager, then the Startup tab. And if you don’t see the Startup tab, select More details.)
· Review the list of Apps that are set to On. And change any you would like to auto-start from Off to On.

[Startup window]

If the app you want doesn't appear in the Startup options...

The concept to understand when setting up a program to open upon Windows 10 startup (if it is not in the Startup list) is that you're creating a shortcut to it in the Startup folder. So first we create the shortcut, and then we add (copy) it to the Startup folder. Here's how:

1. Create the Shortcut to the app.

· Go to the Start button and scroll to find the app (program) you want to run automatically at startup.
· Right-click on top of the app, select More, and then select Open file location. NOTE: If the option for Open file location is not shown, it means the app can't run at startup.

[start-up shortcut]

· Locate the Shortcut to the application in the open folder. Right-click and choose Copy.

2. Now we're going to open the Startup folder and paste the app shortcut in it.

· Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run box.
· Type shell:startup in the box. Click OK.
· This opens the Startup folder.
· Right-click and choose Paste to add the shortcut to the app that you previously copied to the Startup folder.

[Run window]

Now, the next time Windows starts, the new app will automatically open.

NOTE: You are not moving the program or file, just creating a shortcut to open it. If you would like to discontinue the new startup application, just delete the shortcut from the Startup folder.

BONUS: If one of the apps you added to your Startup folder is an Internet browser like Chrome or Firefox, you can choose a specific page (or more than one), to open automatically. Learn how to set up one page here<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=00100Zti9V_LV9zUqncKU3apc3RaaavoUYkkdNPhT-q-hgDooD1r8WHvtm7Kbvu8tbygeOMC4t5LvVYVKm_vwinza7ZnquZy5oZww6wgqUBVpFfrAtxAPakk-2w7Q1X5vOicz0NI4YVr8eOMqC67GpB6Ar11fohwfgLskUwktrdZFdvIi2pxQBsuWGz34FEDef1biFy8Y_7_74=&c=zRKlMDV1vm7Nh2EGQCzeLKEcmIsjarJkLiupcL8AdGgU0Z2m_qO7mg==&ch=4FXDYO5TGqbzTkrLxZYZvK12V5TlH7Yudq2p-wUZUmm8HF0d49I_JQ==>, or multiple pages in this Tech-Talk article.<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=00100Zti9V_LV9zUqncKU3apc3RaaavoUYkkdNPhT-q-hgDooD1r8WHvtm7Kbvu8tbyVCH8QSwh4xO72UurrBYc1fQQlXv38Ahw5x1x2mBhtEb56gQIaEZ5gB0i3gWQuNjBtXxhkAqXv35eZCz8v3wUpF_2BSdDQMKoyB4jZYTuSGRHkrBX9dtq164mOIuLD1Jx&c=zRKlMDV1vm7Nh2EGQCzeLKEcmIsjarJkLiupcL8AdGgU0Z2m_qO7mg==&ch=4FXDYO5TGqbzTkrLxZYZvK12V5TlH7Yudq2p-wUZUmm8HF0d49I_JQ==> (You'll need to be logged in to view these tips.)

WINDOWS 7: Set up apps (programs) to automatically run at startup

· Click the Start Button and go to the list of Programs/Apps.
· Right-click on top of the program name and choose Send to, then Desktop (create shortcut).

[Shortcut]

· Now the shortcut icon will be visible on your Desktop. Right-click on top of it and choose Copy.
· To add it to your Startup folder, continue with Step 2 above.

Communicating Within
"What does your unconscious tell you?"

We're constantly talking to ourselves. Sometimes we're aware of it. Often not so much.

Neville Goddard reminds us that ...

"If you don’t consciously select where you want to go,
you go where your unconscious wants you to go!"

Think about that.

Where is your unconscious taking you? Is that where you want to be?

If not, change it. First, be aware of what you're unconscious believes. Then decide if you agree or not. If you don't, modify that unconscious message.

"Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious."--Thomas Edison
